Animal Sanctuary and Education Program
In 2023, Aloha Animal Sanctuary, still an entirely volunteer-run organization, continued to provide sanctuary for neglected, abused, and/or abandoned animals and promote compassion towards these animals through public engagement and education and achieved notable accomplishments. The sanctuary successfully rescued several neglected animals and continued caring for 34 animal residents, including various species, while ensuring their well-being and happiness. In 2023, 23 rescued 6 animals, bringing the sanctuary total to now caring for 41 residents for most of 2023. In 2023, the sanctuary closed the year with 117 active volunteers and continued the work-trade program. The impact on the lives of rescued animals, volunteers, and the broader community reflects the sanctuarys commitment to creating a more compassionate and sustainable world for all.Educational events and visitor days continued in 2023, focusing on fostering a deeper understanding of farmed animals and humane treatment to the border community and those who visited the sanctuary. Events included Visitor Days connected with special events such as Yoga. We continued hosting Volunteer Days throughout the year, where the community was invited to help around the sanctuary with various projects. While we continued to accomplish many goals aligned with the Sanctuary mission, the sanctuary did go through a significant managing director change starting in June and then into July and Aug. Therefore, the end of 2023 was focused on onboarding, training, and ensuring all departments had the support they needed to care for the residents.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$84.9K
