Detroit Therapy Forest Project
The Detroit Therapy Forest, is a community-driven urban reforestation project in Detroit's Nolan neighborhood that transforms vacant land into a restorative green space inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing). Spanning over two acres, the site serves as both a wellness retreat and an ecological restoration zone-providing residents with a peaceful environment to reduce stress, connect with nature, and foster community healing. Beyond its therapeutic purpose, the project also improves neighborhood aesthetics, supports pollinators and native habitat, and engages local youth through stewardship and workforce development opportunities that reinforce environmental awareness and collective care for Detroit's urban landscape.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$75.3KGreenspace Transformations in Detroit
Rescue MI Nature Now, Inc. (RMNN) leads innovative greenspace transformations across Detroit by converting vacant, blighted, and underutilized lots into vibrant, ecologically rich community assets. Through projects like the Detroit Therapy Forest, Community Green Loop, and Urban Acupuncture interventions, RMNN integrates sustainable landscaping, native habitat restoration, and stormwater management to revitalize neglected areas while fostering community pride and wellness. Each transformation blends environmental design with social impact-creating safe, beautiful, and functional spaces that promote mental health, youth engagement, and environmental stewardship. By combining community vision, workforce training, and green infrastructure, RMNN's work restores both the land and the spirit of Detroit's neighborhoods.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$104.7K
