JCA:The mission of Jean Charles Academy is to promote biliteracy, bilingualism, and biculturalism for students. The school will prioritize students of color by providing an interdisciplinary and dual language education that will prepare students for the 21st century through an emphasis on holistic learning and critical thinking skills. Jean Charles Academy aims to reimagine education by: 1. Building schools that are designed to meet the needs of students of color; 2. Diversifying the teaching profession by hiring and retaining teachers with diverse backgrounds, and ensuring that faculty are representative of the diversity of enrolled students; and Equipping all teachers with strategies for building racially equitable classrooms and ensuring a curriculum that is inclusive and reflective of the student populations. KEY SUCCESSES Students ? 90% attendance rate ? We started the year with 76 students and currently have 72 enrolled. ? 90% of our students participate in hydroponics activities. It has been an especially great learning opportunity for our more neurodiverse learners as we are able to incorporate math and science they are unable to grasp in our round table setting. Teacher Training ? All staff have received the Registered Behavioral Therapist Training. The program has been so successful that we are now offering the service to the community via 5 trainings and job placement. In addition to our staff, we are prepared to train 15 underemployed participants between the ages of 17-24. Trainings will occur this summer. Participants will be placed at JCA to earn the needed field experience to advance in the field. Parent Engagement ? Building Audacity requires all families to share in the responsibilities of operating our programs. Families can help with food bag distribution, growing, classroom activities, behavior management, and event planning. 60% of our families have completed their shared economy hours. ? Regarding our door to door fold bag distribution, all families have rated the program as adequate. Many have stated that the produce offered is vital to their ability to secure fresh produce.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$466KWoven Fashion Incubator
