Program 1 [2020]
Mission Statement: The Colorado Hebrew Chorales mission is to preserve, promote and celebrate the Jewish experience through song, by performing with and for diverse audiences, both in person and now, because of the pandemic, in a virtual realm.Together with our women's choir, Kol Nashim, we are committed to education, multicultural outreach, especially to marginalized and under-served populations, and Jewish community involvement.Programs & Accomplishment: The Colorado Hebrew Chorale and its women's choir Kol Nashim increased artistic quality and breadth, expanded audiences, and initiated successful funding dedicated to outreach programming for under-served populations. These endeavors also furthered and enhanced musical skills for our singers and facilitated participation in festivals and service performances. Our organization commissioned and premiered new works by Marilyn Brown and David Wohl, a new arrangement of Osi Sladeks Know Yourself by Colorado Hebrew Chorales pianist TravisYamamoto, and held a successful concert showcase, Raisins and Almonds, featuring our choirs and a prominent east-coast cantor as guest artist. Our annual open sing, known as the Summer Sight-Singing Romp, included other local choral conductors and soloists to present a reading of Bernsteins seminal Hebrew choral /orchestral work Chichester Psalms and talk about Bernstein's Jewish influences. As part of our 2019 - 2020 performance calendar, our choirs also collaborated with other youth and adult choirs to present our Holocaust and holiday educational programs for students, seniors, hospitalized children and their families, women-to-women audiences, and the general public. Planning continued in 2019 for our Sing Out For Safe House 2020 performance (March 15, 2020 - canceled due to the pandemic). We inaugurated the Sing Out for Safe House series in 2017 with several Denver-based womens choirs to educate the community and raise awareness and support for Safe House Denver.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided––Colorado Hebrew Chorale Programs
Mission Statement: The Colorado Hebrew Chorales mission is to preserve, promote, and celebrate the Jewish experience through song. We are committed to using the power of music to foster understanding through education, Jewish community involvement, and multi-cultural outreach.Diversity Statement:Together with our treble choir, Kol Nashim, the Colorado Hebrew Chorale welcomes all qualified singers of any race, gender expression, disability or religious affiliation.Programs & Accomplishment: The Colorado Hebrew Chorale and its women's choir Kol Nashim continued increasing artistic quality and breadth, and expanding efforts aimed towards bringing its programs to existing and new audiences and serving under-served populations. During our 2022-2023 season, a two-year collaborative endeavor, "If Not Now When: Songs of Strength and Unity" was launched with Kol Nashim and the Unity Project (UP), based in Colorado Springs. Partnership with the Golda Meir House and Museum on the Auraria campus in downtown Denver brought the Colorado Hebrew Chorale's signature programming to a new performance venue. Our organization commissioned and premiered two new works by Kol Nashim pianist Nili Abrahamsson, and, after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, was able to bring back its annual concert showcase, Raisins and Almonds, featuring our choirs and a local youth chorus as guest artist. Our annual Open Sing, known as the Summer Sight-Singing Romp, included other local choral conductors to present a reading featuring the music of Salamone Rossi, the Italian Jewish composer of the late Renaissance / early Baroque era. Hiring an assistant conductor strengthened our musical underpinnings, mentored a young artist and leaned into the future of the organization.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$53.9K
