MB Productions Multi-Disciplinary Projects
MB Productions is the vehicle for our original projects. These works are intentionally multi-disciplinary, ranging from physical theater performances to large-scale community festivals, from innovative digital storytelling to site-responsive productions. Our projects have been experienced in art centers, universities and outdoor locations in 38 states across the country and occasionally abroad. Services Provided: MB Productions produced COINTELSHOW, a biting political satire written by L.M. Bogad This interactive, multi-camera virtual performance was created and directed by Mondo Bizarro with sound composition by Peter J. Bowling and starring Bruce France. COINTELSHOW served over 1000 audience members through its presentation on ZOOM. MB Productions continues to develop a new performance and media project called Invisible Rivers. Invisible Rivers has hosted numerous site-responsive performances and land activations serving over 500 people. Through a partnership with the Ripple Effect Water Literacy program, the Invisible Rivers project also engaged elementary school teachers and students. Fiscal Sponsor of Another Gulf is Possible, The Land Memory Bank and Seed Exchange and Vagbond inventions programming which served over 2500 people in FY 22. MB Presents is a multi-disciplinary presenting and residency program that produces performances, workshops, films and programs by local, regional, national and international artists. Services Provided: MB Presents continued to host Catapult micro-residencies serving artists in the development of new performance work; hosted local artists Open/UP for a two-week residency in performance, serving approximately 100 community members; hosted Ezell: Ballad of a Land Man in partnership with A Studio in the Woods and Clear Creek Creative. This production served as a fundraiser for Hurricane relief and served over 1000 people through its performance and fundraising efforts. Since 2012, Mondo Bizarro has been housed in Catapult, our 4000-square-foot performance center dedicated to the development of original theater and innovative design. As a resource for the New Orleans arts and activism communities, Catapult provides space for rehearsals, trainings, meetings and workshop performances from local and national individuals and organizations. It is an inclusive space where respect, justice and freedom are practiced and supported.? Catapult produced several events serving approximately 250 people; continued to serve as a Hurricane Ida relief distribution center serving hundreds of families across Southeast Louisiana; hosted over 50 rehearsals for local artists. MB Training is our educational arm, a creative laboratory for the company and the home for our inquiry into thinking about, through and with the body. It is an intensive site of exploration for people who are curious about physical and vocal training, the centrality of place in the creation, presentation and touring of original performance work, and what a deep investment in social change could look like in the lands and communities they call home.
