Transportation Advocacy and Support
- Attended, monitored, and reported on public meetings throughout the year and especially at federally-mandated meetings in Dec 2023 - Surveyed and reported on candidates' priorities and commitments regarding I-45 and transportation for the November 2023 general election - Hosted teach-ins about the I-45 expansion in neighborhoods and community hubs - Connected directly-impacted residents with legal support and resources through workshops and one-on-one meetings - Contributed volunteers and communications support for the Fair For Houston/Yes on Prop B initiative to reform the structure of the HGAC transportation policy council - Traveled to the capitol to testify on transportation-related bills and attended regular meetings of the texas transportation commission to make public comments - CONDENSED: hosted educational workshops regarding the I-45 expansion plans and how to engage in the public comment process, including facilitating travel to Austin to testify about transportation-related issues and legislative bills. We connected displaced residents with legal resources and bureaucratic assistance, and contributed volunteer resources and time to several local initiatives focused on multimodal transportation and governmental reform regarding transportation decision-making.
