Program 1 [2020]
Community outreach through Leadership Latino - Development of more significant contact with conservative Latino, young and old, throughout the State. Through we meet with young men and women who have demonstrated strong, principled leadership and proven concern for their communities. We foster strong personal development and better knowledge of local resources. We deploy our graduates to contribute their time and talents in their communities. We provide continued educational opportunities with a mentorship program so graduates can learn from like- minded conservative leaders in an environment that encourages open dialogue. TLC Videos/TLC Live/TLC Tele-Town Hall Productions - Media outreach to the Latino Community via live broadcasts and recorded videos on social media. Such productions include programs highlighting the contribuitions of Texas Latino military veterans, the socio-economic impact on health, a discussion of the challenges Latinos face for our mental health during the pandemic, featuring two health experts from the McGovern Medical School in Houston and a clinical psychologist specializing in stress-related mental health counseling for families to discuss COVID-19 related health issues and a program featuring experts from across Texas answering many questions from parents concerned about their children's education as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. Community Issues Research - Research was conducted to determine the most important issues facing the Latino Community in Texas and to gauge the level of concern. Community research consisted of one formal survey of Latinos in Texas, selected at random and contacted by telephone for live, in person responses to a series of questions relating to economic issues facing Latinos, health and health insurance issues, education issues, law enforcement and border security issues and opinions on immigration policy, including dealing with "Dreamer" status. 500 persons were interviewed in the formal survey.
