Public Education Campaigns: To combat the baseless negativity that pervades the media regarding immigrants and immigration in order to eliminate the resulting prejudice and discrimination against immigrants. ABIC plans to educate the public by promoting what is factually accurate regarding the benefits of immigration for our country. ABIC will specifically highlight the beneficial impact immigration and immigrant communities have on the society and economy of our country. ABIC will promote this educational program through various social media including but not limited to op-eds, editorial letters , public forums, bi-weekly emailed immigration news and policy updates, and monthly breakfasts on current immigration topics.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$43.5KProgram 2 [2020]
Small Business Recovery: As a result of COVID, ABIC pivoted some of its resources towards helping immigrant owned small businesses navigate through the pandemic by gaining access to economic recovery initiatives. ABIC helped around 200 immigrant owned small businesses gain access to the Paycheck Protective Program funding, and move towards resource and capacity building through government resources that have been traditionally difficult to obtain.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$22.1KProgram 3 [2020]
Immigration Advocacy: ABIC will research and promote sensible immigration policy that supports the economy of the United States. The ABIC Project is also working to organize business coalitions nationally to develop and implement pro-immigrant policies. For example, in November of 2019, the U.S. Supreme Court took up a case regarding Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), a law that protects eligible immigrant youth who came to the United States when they were children from deportation and allows them to obtain a work permit. The ABIC Project organized more than 140 companies across industries, and 18 major business associations to sign onto an amicus brief in support of the DACA program to protect the rights of these immigrant youth who had been relying on this law to remain in the U.S. andcontinue to work.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$15K
