Primary Activities and Accomplishments:Our primary activity is to provide information and referrals to people across the state of New Mexico via a phone line, an email address, a monthly resource group, four support groups, and an annual conference.In 2023, the agency obtained the NM Human Services Department contract to run the NM Brain Injury Resource Center; One 1.0 FTE and one 0.25FTE staff was hired; an office was opened. This enabled the organization to continue and expand its provision of Information and Referrals to the populace of New Mexico. In the context of this contract, we also operate the NM Brain Injury Resource Center Lending Library.Secondary Activities and Accomplishments:The organization contracted with professionals in carrying out the following educational contracts in 2023:NM Governors Commission on Disability: 1) Training of health care providers and first responders2) Training of Albuquerque Public Schools Special Education Teachers3) Bike Rodeo: helmet giveaway and bike safety training for childrenNM Department of Health:The organization completed a study for the NM Department of Health in which domestic violence shelter workers were interviewed in a needs assessment; a training was developed and provided in person and online with pre- and post- testing; follow up interviews were conducted. Results were provided to NM DOH.UNM Office of Injury Prevention:The agency contracted with a professional who participated in a federally-funded injury prevention grant with the purpose of injury prevention.
