ABI and Spinal Cord Injury Support Services
GARSVP, Inc. provides free occupational therapy, physical therapy , speech therapy, counseling, recreation therapy, case management, peer support, nursing and medical care for uninsured persons with ABI and spinal cord injuries. In our fiscal year 2023-2024 we had 22 admissions and 15 discharges. For our spinal cord injury patients, 92% met at least one goal, all patients are now receiving Medicaid with the help from our case managers, one client is driving one of the donated vehicles and is employed, another client received a certificate for peer mentorship through the Christopher Reeve foundation and is speaking nationally. All clients now have a bowel and bladder program (which they did not have prior to our program) and 3 clients are going to the gym regularly. For the brain injury clients, one client went back to work, one is driving the other donated vehicle, three clients received ICWP, and one minimally conscious patient is able to go out on family gatherings. In addition to these accomplishments, our organization has helped secure housing for a client, obtain appropriate wheelchair and seating, and has been issued medical supplies and medical equipment that they would never had access to before attending GARSVP.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesMar 1, 2023 – Feb 29, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$99.5KProgram 1 [2026]
The Georgia RSVP Clinic is a free outpatient rehabilitation program for uninsured and underinsured individuals who have experienced traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal cord injury (SCI), or stroke. Our clinical volunteers include physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, physical, occupational, and speech-language therapists, recreational therapists, psychologists, and peer mentors. We provide individual and group education to support families. For clients unable to attend in person due to medical or transportation barriers, we offer telehealth services to ensure access to care. Between clinic dates, we offer ongoing, comprehensive support to address the social determinants of health including housing, food access, transportation, and connection to vital community resources. We also assist clients in accessing essential medical supplies and equipment such as wheelchairs, hospital beds, and adaptive devices that promote safety and independence. During this last month, our volunteers contributed 345 hours. We admitted 4 new clients and had 1 discharge, our clients are seen on average between 6-8 months, some for over a year. This month, each of our clients received specialized interdisciplinary therapy services. We supported one client in receiving the specialty splinting he needed for essential hand function, as well as specialty bathroom equipment needed for bathing. We supported three clients in receiving the appropriate wound care, and bowel/bladder supplies they require for quality of life.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesMar 1, 2025 – Mar 31, 2025Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$4.7K
