Primary Education and Sanitation
Education: 2023 has been our greatest accomplishment in one of our primary directives - that of education. We have not only completed 8 classrooms of our primary school, but we have almost completed a separate sanitation building. This building includes separate toilets and shower facilities for both boys and girls and has been constructed right next to the school for our students and teachers. We now employ 15 teachers for grade levels kindergarten through seventh grade. In 2023 we have grown from 45 to 167 students hence the demand for proper sanitation. While most schools in Haiti have been closed due to gang activity, we have completed another school year providing our students with daily hot meals, books and uniforms.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$224.1KFood Production and Agriculture Training
Agriculture: The food scarcity problem in Haiti has increased by 10-fold due to the control of the country by gangs in the capital city of Port-au-Prince. They have taken control of the port and airport, crippling the country of needed imports. Whatever food is availabel is priced beyond the ability of most citizens. To fight starvation, we have once again increased our acres of food production to feed our students and community. We continue to teach two seminars a year on Syntropic Agriculture as well as weekly community classes on how to increase soil fertility and water persevation.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$134.4KHealth Education and Care
Health Care: Since food consumption is highly related to health care, we have placed a special emphasis on teaching our community and school students gardening classes dealing with the limitations of the soil and water all year round. We are providing medical care for illness and accidents, and hospital care when needed. Since running water, showers, toilets, and refrigeration are not present in the homes, classes in how to handle human waste, proper hand washing, proper food preparation and storage are continually needed. These classes are tuaght on all age levels in weekly clubs. Special attention is given to the needs of newborns, teenagers dealing with sexual maturity, and the poor conditions facing the elderly.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$89.6K
