    Leighton University( LU) is a non-profit private university in the State of Missippii. More specifically, through a private, nonsectarian institution in Mississippi, the institution is poised to offer adult learners and individuals who have started but have not finished their college degrees a high-quality college preparation for 21st-century occupations. Leighton has made the following selected strides:1.Application for Approval to the MCCA. In Spring 2022, Leighton University submitted its operation for approval through the Mississippi Commission for College Accreditation. The operation was reviewed in the Commission's June meeting and tabled for additional review and examination, leading to a Fall 2022 call meeting for review. This information was formally shared with the Boards of Directors and Trustees. LU is waiting for a follow-up on the application made to MCCA. Until formally approved and notified, LU will not admit aspirants. Leighton University as an organization continues to remain qualified and eager to reach its purpose under IRS section 501( c)( 3) as an instruction or training of individuals to ameliorate or develop their capabilities. Over the last several moght, LU's board of directors, trustees, and other interested parties have continued the review analysis of data from (a) a comprehensive Need Assessment Survey targeting current Mississippi citizens enrolled in some form of an academic program and (b) data collected from two Panel Discussion Forums.
