  • Community Violence Intervention and Advocacy

    Force Detroit released a participatory research report on causes of violence and community responses to it that set a compelling vision, built our power locally and cemented us as experts in the field, this earned us a partnership with the White House's 2022 Community Violence Intervention Initiative. We advocated for a statewide office of community violence intervention and WON that office and 15.5M of funding for CVI work (with 500K in the state budget specifically for Force Detroit); and We began building a Community Violence Intervention site in Detroit's Cody Rouge neighborhood and will soon be able to quantify the safety impact of our work We advanced conversations about funding Community Violence Intervention and establishing an office of neighborhood safety at the local city level We organized several grassroots advocacy and programmatic partners to participate in building Detroit's community led safety ecosystem. We established Force Detroit as an independent 501c3- establishing bylaws, a board, etc.
