Hunger Relief Operations
Our Hunger Relief Operations at Prince George's was able to serve marginalized population in the following communities: (1) local residents of New Carrollton City; (2) East Riverdale; (3) Title I schools- Carrollton Elementary, Beacon Heights Elementary and Cooper Lane Elementary; We served our communities in need through our food assistance programs: Wellness Feeding Program (Home Delivery), Community Pantry ("Take what you need, Give what you can" approach), Hunger Free Week-end Program and Food Rescue mission. We hosted weekly community pantries both at New Carrollton Municipal and Word of Faith Church while at the same time organize a home delivery program to be able to reach out those vulnerable families who have barriers in participating to our food distribution. We are relentless Title I school advocate and partner, knowing education is a long-term solution. We sponsor 65 students for two schools in this county which provided total of 2500 hunger free week-end food packs through our blessings in a backpack program. We are averaging 300 to 400 families (or 1200 to 1600 individuals per month) who benefit from our market style community pantry and food distribution. We serve local municipalities from New Carrollton, Hyattsville, Lanham, Landover, and Greater Riverdale Impact Areas. In 2022, we rescued from seven stores five days a week, approximately 160,000lbs of food. In our Onsite Food Pantry and Mobile Food Market, we have provided 250,743 lbs of food for 2259 families and 10,416 indivuduals. We also distributed 61,000 diapers and 25,000 baby wipes.
