The Lehigh Valley Justice Institute is an independent and nonpartisan research organization working to develop and promote a reimagined criminal justice system that is equitable and fair for all communities. The Institute utilizes a data-driven approach focused on criminal and social justice processes within the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania and employs a three-step approach to study and reform. Research - Utilizing the abundant academic resources of the Lehigh Valley and beyond, the Institute applies an academically rigorous, empirical, data-driven methodology to assessing the current deficiencies and inequities inherent in local criminal and social justice processes; Policy Development - Building upon data analysis, statistical modeling, and comprehensive background research of innovative and best practices nationwide, the Institute develops policy and procedural recommendations for the management of the local governmental systems; and Advocacy - The Institute promotes adopting its recommended policies and procedures through interaction with community and governmental stakeholders, public education and engagement, and the news media, focusing on locally-based solutions development.
