Youth Communication and Educator Support Programs
Our education programs engaged over 600 middle and high school students across the country. Through these initiatives, students built skills in authentic and persuasive communication, focusing on topics that matter to them. 81% of participants reported increased confidence, 79% noted improvements in public speaking, and 91% shared that the program helped them better understand and express their own thoughts and needs. Additionally, 100% of educators in our teacher fellowship program said they would recommend it to a colleague. We created four new interactive professional development workshops designed to help educators foster supportive, student-centered learning environments. These workshops were presented at national events including SXSW EDU in Austin and Teaching for Change?s Curriculum Fair in Washington, D.C. We also launched a partnership with Detroit Public Schools Community District to deliver training for Social Studies teachers. Our workshops, ?Critical Reflection for Our Collective Good? and ?Storytelling Pedagogy,? reached nearly 90 educators through both in-person and virtual sessions. Every participant reported that the sessions positively impacted their teaching practice. In addition, we piloted the second year of our Youth Power Collective, giving students the opportunity to apply their communication skills by leading community-based civic projects. This pilot, led by our Youth Advisory Council, positions us to expand the program to more students in the coming year.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2023 – Jun 30, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$243.5K
