SAFE EMBRACE ADVOCATES AND VOLUNTEERS RESPONDED TO 970 UNIQUE CASES OF DOMESTIC AND/OR SEXUAL VIOLENCE, AND/OR SEX TRAFFICKING IN RENO-SPARKS. 128 FEMALE VICTIMS, 151 CHILD VICTIMS, AND 6 MALE VICTIMS WERE SAFELY HOUSED IN OUR SHELTER, IN MOTELS, AND IN TRANSITIONAL HOUSING APARTMENTS. A TOTAL OF 37 PETS WERE ALSO HOUSED LAST YEAR WITH THEIR OWNERS. A TOTAL OF 10,199 SAFE BED NIGHTS AND 11,734 NUTRITIOUS MEALS WERE PROVIDED AT NO COST TO THESE VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE. 110 CLIENTS PARTICIPATED IN 237 FREE INDIVIDUAL THERAPEUTIC SESSIONS. Safe Embraces Safe House & Survivor Support program provides a dual focus shelter for victims of domestic abuse, sexual violence, and human trafficking in Washoe County, Nevada. These services are provided at no cost to the survivors and are extended to the survivors children and pets. Our 32-bed safe house is the largest, most inclusive shelter of its kind in the Reno/Sparks area accomodating male, LGBTQIA2+, and survivors with disabilities. The safe house is pet friendly. Annually, the safe house provided more than 6,600 bed nights for primary survivors, their children, and pets. Safe Embraces newest program, Rapid Rehousing, offers subsidized housing to survivors of domestic and sexual violence who are homeless or on the brink of homelessness. By addressing homelessness first, we can work through other issues related to domestic abuse, human trafficking, and sexaul assault in a healthy and sustainable way.
