Care 4 Community Action organizes in Oakland neighborhoods to build support for a progressive political agenda: making housing a human right, investing in holistic community safety, winning climate and environmental justice for all, and taxing corporate wealth to fund City services. In 2024, we held 84 door knocking shifts, with a direct reach of over 8,000 households. Our volunteer organizers had face-to-face conversations surveying 1,831 West Oakland residents about the problems in their neighborhoods and the solutions they want to see. We organized 6 neighborhood meetings and 4 city-wide town halls where residents built community with each other, learned more about City government works, and engaged directly with City leaders (including District 3 Councilmember Carroll Fife, Mayor Sheng Thao, and heads of City departments) about the issues they cared about most.
