Affordable Mental Health Counseling
Janus Community Counseling Services provides mental health therapy/counseling at reasonable fees based on need and income for individuals, couples, and families in localized Santa Barbara County, and also other extended areas within the State of California. Therapy is conducted by graduate-level clinical psychology students (trainees and associates) in the process of obtaining clinical hours toward California licensure.Therapy services are conducted both locally in person at Janus Community Counseling Services and through remote telemedicine when necessary.80 percent of time is allocated to this activity and is funded through client fees and mental health grants. 90 percent of overall expenses are allocated to this activity. By offering affordable and thoughtful therapeutic counseling to the community, we are responding to the critical needs for an increase in mental health offerings. Research shows that most therapists in Santa Barbara and the greater State of California have extensive waiting lists for people who are struggling to see a therapist. Our benevolent offering will help to answer this problem. In order for Janus Community Counseling Services to help develop strong and capable therapists for the future, we are committed to provide quality training and supervision in support of preparing our clinical counseling Trainees and Associate Therapists who will be taking eventual licensure exams. We do this by 1) Hosting weekly educational training sessions as an adjunct resource to their graduate program offerings. 2) Holding weekly individual/group/ and triad supervision gatherings provided by licensed clinical therapists and psychologists who have been qualified and vetted by the standards outlined by The Board of Behavioral Sciences and other applicable governing licensure boards, and in keeping with supervisory best practices. Supervision takes place in person at Janus Community Counseling Services office as well as online if necessary. 20 percent of time will be allocated to this activity. While supervision is provided at no/low cost to interns, funding for educational training is provided in part through a reasonable training stipend by Trainees/Associates, as well as fees generated by patients attending therapy. 10 percent of JCCS's overall expenses will be allocated to this activity. Note- This educational offering will increase the success of therapists-in-process who are completing the necessary requirements toward licensure. Offering this support will increase the flow of quality therapists into society and in support of the ever increasing mental health needs in the State of California.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$1.5K
