Program 1 [2020]
King County Relicensing Program. LELO's DWLS3D Relicensing Program assisted low income drivers to recover their driver License. This program accepts any low income person who has an unpaid ticket in King County District Courts. The DWLS3D Program goals are to help clients to navigate the court system, educate individuals on the rights and help clients to advocate for themselves. In 2020 DWLS3D had 132 clients and more than 63 regained their driver license. We provide more than $3,000 in financial assistance to help pay for Washington Department of Licensing and related fees.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$107KProgram 2 [2020]
LELO strives to empower low-income workers of color, recent immigrants and women workers to assert their rights, improve their working conditions and gain a voice in their workplaces, trade unions and communities in the U.S. and across the globe. As an organization led by ordinary workers, we develop the leadership of those most marginalized in our society: people of color, working class women, recent immigrants and LGBTQ (lesbian/ gay/bisexual/ transgender/ queer) workers. Our social change strategy is local organizing, with emphasis on political education and solidarity networks with workers across all borders.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$47.5KProgram 3 [2020]
City of Seattle Priority Hire and Pre-filing. LELO Priority Hire Program helps individuals interested in working in construction to regain their driver licenses so they can do apprenticeship and ultimately work on City of Seattle public works projects. We advocate on behalf of our clients with Washington State and other courts to reinstate their suspended or revoked licenses. This year was challenging because COVID-19 public health restrictions made it harder to do outreach and enrollment to help our community. Even still, in 2020 the Priority Hire Program helped 13 clients to recover their driving licenses from 25 total clients. In the Pre-filing Program 74 people participated and 15 recovered their driver licenses. We provided more than $3,500 in financial assistance to help clients pay Washington Department of Licensing and related fees.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$12.5K
