BAINBRIDGE ISLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Programs
Program 1 [2020]
Operate & maintain Bainbridge Island's Historical Museum, serving thousands of visitors and researchers annually. Museum exhibits regularly rotate and cover unique elements of the diverse history of Bainbridge Island, Washington. In 2020, the Museum opened 'Her Vote. Her Story.' a temporary exhibit celebrating the 19th amendment to the US Constitution. Through this eye-opening exhibit, visitors had the chance to dig into a suffrage timeline, compare national, state & local voting statistics, make a campaign button, and delight in a suffrage quilt made on Bainbridge Island. Although the pandemic prevented some people from experiencing this exhibit in person, virtual progams and tours helped provide community access. Museum staff continue to preserve and add to the Museum's expansive collection of cultural materials, photographs, & documents on site. The Research Library allows visitors and members to access the archives and collection during specific hours each week. In spring of 2020, the Museum launched a new website to better support visitors navigating and accessing digital content.
