THE 90 CREDIT AOS DEGREE PROGRAM IN COMTEMPORARY WOODEN BOAT BUILDING TEACHES STUDENTS THE MODERN TECHNOLOGY OF WOODEN BOAT CONSTRUCTION THAT IS EMPLOYED BY MANY YACHT MANUFACTURERS AND WOODEN BOAT BUILDERS WHO ARE MELDING THE AESTHETICS OF WOOD WITH THE ADVANTAGE OF HIGH-PERFORMANCE ADHESIVES AND SHEATHING MATERIALS. Traditional and contemporary wooden boatbuilding programs are comprehensive 12 month degree programs. The 90 credit AOS degree program in traditional wooden boatbuilding teaches students to build a variety of traditionally constructed vessels and prepares them for entry-level employment opportunities in the field of wooden boat building including traditional boat shops, ship yards, educational institutions and maritime museums. The 90 credit AOS degree program in contemporary wooden boat building teaches students the modern technology of wooden boat constructions that is employed by many yacht manufacturers and wooden boat builders who are melding the aesthetics of wood with the advantage of high-performance adhesives and sheathing materials.
