WOLF HOLLOW WILDLIFE REHABILITATION CENTRE

Programs
Wildlife Rehabilitation Program
Wolf Hollow Wildlife Rehabilitation Center took in 298 wild animals during the year representing 91 species. Animals form 17 locations including multiple islands and the mainland in the Pacific Northwest. Ninety Seven, 97, animals were released with an uncorrected rate of 35.4%, a return to rehabilitation standards. Numbers were lower due to the center taking an intake pause October-December due to staffing changes at the center. In 2024, Wolf Hollow Wildlife Rehabilitation Center treated 4 Harbor Seals and released 3, one was humanly euthanized as it was determined it would not survive its injuries. All Harbor Seal Pups were from the San Juan County Marine Mammal Stranding network. The center has been receiving less pups since SR3 opened in Seattle in 2021. The rabbit population had a virus this year, but as the rabbits on San Juan Island are ferial domestics, none came in for care.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$314.2KEducational Outreach and Internship Program
Educational activities were back in full strength in 2024. We participated in 83 events and engaged with 2,869 people. Some activities included weekly talks at national, state, and county parks, the local summer camps, and several special events. The largest event was four days at the San Juan County Fair where we interacted with 598 attendees. The majority of the educational activities take place in the summer months, but due to the centers pause, there were no educational events October-December. The Summer Internship program where interns come for two months of hands-on training was back to full strength. Eight rehabilitation interns, one educational intern were in attendance over the busy summer months. Madrona, our last educational ambassador, retired from service in March 2024. She was showing signs of arthritis which caused her pain. It was time to let her relax and enjoy her golden years.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$119.2K
