Dispute Resolution Center of King County

Programs
Program 1 [2020]
We partnered with Best Starts for Kids & Showalter Middle School, Bridging Cultural Gaps, and a high school restorative mediation cadre to expand trauma-informed and restorative practices around conflict resolution at Showalter. The three-year project to build a peer mediation program at Showalter is working to decrease the use of punitive discipline. The project includes peer mediation, staff professional development and facilitation, and monthly collaboration between families, students, staff and community organizations tied to Showalter.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$204.6KProgram 2 [2020]
Dispute Resolution Center (DRC) provides mediation to all individuals living or working in King County, assisting them in resolving conflicts outside the court system. We also provided mediations, telephone conciliations and conflict coaching sessions to help resolve disputes between neighbors, businesses and consumers, landlords and tenants, at workplaces, and to assist families with parenting plans. Mediations save time and expense, and reduce stress for parties in conflict, as well as reduce workload and costs for the King County District Courts. DRC also provides mediation services to homeowners and lenders, assisting them with alternatives to foreclosure. More than half of all participants retain their homes.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$184.4KProgram 3 [2020]
