Climate Change Awareness and Education
Met with a member of the Green Cincinnati Plan and confirmed how Just Earth - Cincinnati could participate. Hosted six college groups who were on alternative break on separate evenings presenting information regarding justice issues and climate change. A total of 60 students attended. Hosted two Climate Fresk events helping a total of 14 participants better understand the causes, effects and systemic nature of climate change. Sponsored and hosted a booth at Green Umbrella's annual sustainability summit presenting information about climate change and actions that Just Earth - Cincinnati is supporting. Sponsored and hosted a booth at the Cincinnati Festival of Faiths presenting information about climate change and the programs that Just Earth - Cincinnati has to offer. Conducted a book discussion group with 5 participants regarding the book "The Future We Choose." Sponsored two productions of the play "X-Marks the Spot" which highlights the importance of understanding the environment, geography and history of where one lives. Over 25 people were in attendance at each performance. Hosted an information table at three events sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur involving a total of over 300 people and made a presentation at one of the events on climate change and the work of Just earth - Cincinnati.Partnered with another organization on a "Ribbons for the Earth" booth at an outdoor concert with an audience of about 150. Conducted a "Climate Action Simulation" at a local church for 30 people, increasing their understanding of what strategies are effective in mitigating climate change. Led a Deep Time Walk for seven participants increasing their understanding of the fragility of the evolving planetary and life systems. Held a poetry competition with the theme of climate change and a Reading and Awards Event for students and adults with 64 participants.
