Alternative Education and Community Support
1. Provided an alternative, personalized and strength-based education for 48 students, referred to from 5 districts in Lane County. Matriculated 11 graduates.2. The school held the first annual Trunk or Treat fundraiser. The event brought together students, alumni, and community members. Staff and volunteers decorated their vehicles and worked pumpkin carving stations providing a safe place for families to celebrate Halloween. The event raised over $22,000 for the school.3. The school persevered through a financially devastating start due to low envrollment brought on by the effects of COVID related issues. Wellsprings started with 34 students but through the dedication and persistence by staff the enrollment was raised to 48 students by year end.4. The school was approvied for a $13,500 grant to start construction on the outdoor classroom that will be located on the property near the wetlands. This will provide a unique and enriched approach to our science program.5. Collaborated with Looking Glass to provide counseling for students on an appointment basis.6. Collaborated with Hoots to provide counseling and medical advice to our students on a walk-in basis.7. Provided local non-profit, Huerto De La Familia, two garden plots on our property for use by local Latino families.8. 1. Provided an alternative, personalized and strength-based education to an eclectic community of 71 students, the majority referred to us from 4 districts in Lane County. Matriculated 21 graduates. 28% of the students were IEP/504 special needs.2. With the help of Glen Creek Investments LLC, our school was able to complete a much-needed refinance, stabilizing our reserves and putting us on firmer financial ground. Our staff retention efforts received a major boost with a $40,000 grant from the James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation, ensuring that the compassionate educators who make Wellsprings shine can continue their work without interruption. In addition, we were honored to receive a $1,500 grant from Women's Gift and another $5,000 grant from our partners at the Chambers Family Foundation, which will help us begin replacing our outdated Chromebooks.3. From Family Night in the fall to our all-school pumpkin patch field trip, students, staff, and families made memories together. The annual Trunk-or-Treat was a howling good time, complete with creative costumes and spooky fun. Our Community Dinner in Fall featured delicious home-cooked favorites like stuffing, sweet potatoes, and pies, thanks to our amazing staff, students, families, and Board. The debut of the wellSPRING Celebration in May was a creative showcase of what makes our school so special. From student artwork and performances to live music by the Whiteaker Hot Club, it was a memorable highlight!4. Thanks to support from the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians and generous donors, our dream of a permanent outdoor classroom came to life. The project is complete with new garden beds and native plants that fill the area with life and purpose. The outdoor classroom isn't just a structure in the wetlands - it's an instrumental part of our campus, reinforcing Wellsprings' values of experiential learning, community involvement, and honoring the natural environment.5. Out front, a new sign was installed that more accurately explains what Wellsprings does and what we stand for.6. We continued our collaboration with HOOTS to provide on-site counseling and medical advice to our students on a walk-in basis once a week.7.
