Child Care Fund: Through the Child Care Fund, CocoKids, Inc. provides financial help on a sliding scale to help thousands of low-income Contra Costa families pay for child care while they work, seek employment or get work-related training. Parents can strive for a better life for their families and young children can be cared for and receive an early education or preschool experience. The Child Care Fund gives parents a helping hand while providing parent choice in the kind of child care that best meets their children and families needs. The Child Care Fund is an investment in human potential. During the fiscal year, CocoKids, Inc. served 2,564 children and 1,548 families. Child Health & Nutrition Program: The Child Health and Nutrition Program is nationally recognized for its groundbreaking work in the fight against childhood obesity in the child care setting. With practical tools like the CHOICE manual and training from CocoKids specialists, child care programs are able to build and strengthen nutrition and physical activity policies and practices. In the fight against hunger, the Child Care Food Program helps to reimburse family child care providers for the cost of serving nutritious meals and snacks to the children in their care. Learning Institute & Other Programs: The Learning Institute works with parents, children and child care providers to improve the quality of care and early education and strengthen early learning communities. Its training and support services include: the Inclusion Project that serves children with special needs while providing support to their families and training to their child care providers, the Road to Success project in conjunction with Resource & Referral to help start and sustain licensed family child care businesses, and the Innovations in Quality (IQ) Program, which encompasses professional development, training and support for child care providers seeking to improve the quality of their child care programs.
