Concerts and Cultural Programming
Concert performances and cultural programming in United States and Eastern Europe Slavyanka Chorus has traditionally performed an average of six concerts per year in the United States and one international concert tour every four to five years entertaining audiences in major concert halls churches and music schools in Russia Republic of Georgia Croatia and Serbia Due to the COVID pandemic beginning in March of 2020 the chorus was limited to two United States concert performances prior to March 2020 none in 2021 three in 2022 and barred from international travel Beginning in April 2020 continuing through 2022 the Chorus continued with planning and presentation of cultural programs via public ZOOM meetings Announcements and personal invitations were broadcasted prior to the event dates requesting donations to support the programs In 2022 the chorus developed repertoire for three Prayer for Peace concerts to raise funds for humanitarian financial support of victims of the Russia-Ukraine war All funds raised were donated to the Ameican Red Cross UNICEF and International Orthodox Christian CharitiesIn early 2022 the chorus began rehearsals for three American Premier concert performances of the Konstantin Shvedov Liturgy in 2023 From 2020 to 2022 and into 2023 development of the Chorus Artistic Director and supporting staff skillssinger a cappella voice skills and repertoire the Chorus conducted weekly rehearsals via ZOOM initiated Estill voice training estillvoicecom and implemented use of Jamulus jamulusio an open source GPL networked music performance software that enables live individual singer rehearsing and chorus performing with singers located anywhere on the internet Jamulus is written by Volker Fischer and contributors using C The Software is based on the Qt framework and uses the OPUS audio codec In 2022 the chorus received a grant from The California Nonprofit Performing Arts Grant Program to support development of its professional chorus leadershipGeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided––
