YMCA Pool Facility Development
POOL COMMITTEE HAS BEEN WORKING ON AN AGREEMENT WITH THE YMCA WHICH REQUIRES SOME NEW ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN TO MEET YMCAS REQUIREMENTS. THIS AGREEMENT WAS SIGNED IN 2009. ALL OF 2010 THROUGH 2012 WAS CONSUMED WITH THE PERMIT PROCESS WHICH REQUIRED THE COMMITTEE TO PURCHASE ADDITIONAL LAND ON WHICH TO BUILD THE FACILITY. THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED IN 2013 AND THE FUNDRAISING BEGAN IN 2014 DECIDED TO BUILD THE PUBLIC FACILITY FIRST AND ADD THE SWIMMING POOL LATER. COVID HAS SLOWED EVERYTHING DOWN AND EVERYTHING IS ON HOLD, INCLUDING FUNDRAISING. IN 2022 YMCA BACKED OUT OF THE AGEEMENT DUE TO LACK OF ABILITY TO RAISE TO ENOUGH FUNDS FOR THE PROJECT. Pool Committee has been working on an agreement with the YMCA which requires some new architectural design to meet YMCAs requirements. This agreement was signed in 2009. All of 2010 through 2012 was consumed with the permit process which required the Committee to purchase additional land on which to build the facility. This was accoumplished in 2013 and the fundraising began. In 2014, decided to build the public facility first and add the swimming pool later. Covid slowed everything down and everything is on hold, including fundraising. In 2022, YMCA backed out of the agreement due to lack of ability to raise enough funds for the project.
