AFFORDABLE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT. WITH ITS PARTNER MERCY HOUSING, SFHDC MADE SUBSTANTIAL PROGRESS ON PRE-DEVELOPMENT WORK ON A NEW 107-UNIT AFFORDABLE RENTAL. HOUSING DEVELOPMENT AT FELL AND LAGUNA STREETS IN SAN FRANCISCO, WHICH WILL INCLUDE A 25% SET-ASIDE FOR FORMERLY HOMELESS HOUSEHOLDS. SFHDC AND ITS PARTNER, MCCORMACK BARON SALAZAR, COMPLETED A 93-UNIT LOW-INCOME FAMILY RENTAL PROJECT AND BEGAN CONSTRUCTION ON ANOTHER 122-UNIT LOW-INCOME FAMILY RENTAL PROEJCT AS PART OF THE REDEVELOPMENT OF THE ALICE GRIFFITH PUBLIC HOUSING - HOPESF SITE. SFHDC, ALONG WITH JOHN STEWART COMPANY, RELATED CALIFORNIA AND RIDGEPOINT NONPROFIT HOUSING, MADE SUBSTANTIAL PROGRESS IN THE RENOVATION OF A 213-UNIT FORMER PUBLIC HOUSING SITE THROUGH THE RENTAL ASSISTANCE DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM, AND BEGAN RENOVATION OF AN ADDITIONAL 220 UNITS. HOUSING COUNSELING AND FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT. AS A HUD-CERTIFIED HOUSING COUNSELING ENTITY, SFHDC PROVIDES QUALITY FINANCIAL EDUCATION AND HOUSING COUNSELING THROUGH NUMEROUS ONGOING WORKSHOPS AND INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING, INCLUDING FIRST TIME HOMEBUYERS, RENTAL READINESS, CREDIT AND GENERAL FINANCIAL LITERACY. THIS PAST YEAR, SFHDC SERVED OVER 1,806 NEW UNIQUE CLIENTS, WITH 2,214 ATTENDING ONE OR MORE FINANCIAL OR HOUSING WORKSHOPS. MORE THAN 1,100 CLIENTS GRADUATED HOMEBUYER EDUCATION AND MORE THAN 200 CLIENTS PARTICIPATED IN RENTAL READINESS WORKSHOPS, AND NEARLY 250 ATTENDED CREDIT MATTERS 1. SUPPORTIVE SERVICES. SFHDC CONTINUED TO PROVIDE CASE MANAGEMENT AND ON-SITE PROGRAMS FOR LOW-INCOME AND VERY LOW-INCOME FAMILIES AT BAYVIEW COMMONS. AND LAUNCHED NEW ON-SITE SERVICE CONNECTION THROUGH THE RENTAL ASSISTANCE DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM, SERVING 440 HOUSEHOLDS AT HUNTERS POINT EAST/WEST AND WESTBROOK APARTMENTS. THE LATTER INCLUDED LAUNCHING A SUMMER LUNCH AND SNACK PROGRAM, PERFORMING CLIENT INTAKE INTERVIEWS, AND PROVIDING SPECIAL EVENTS, PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES FOR YOUTH AND FAMILIES ON-SITE.
