  • Pediatric Cardiac Care Program

    Pediatric cardiac careA team of fifteen medical volunteers, staff, and interpreters participated on our fifth pediatric cardiac training mission to the National Childrens Hospital. Our team of specialists provided teaching and training in the three main subspecialties of pediatric cardiac medicine: cardiology, surgery, and intensive care. We performed five open heart surgeries alongside our Costa Rican colleagues, in addition to one interventional catheterization. Year Round Heart to Heart staff continuously collected and analyzed per patient surgical outcomes data from HNN throughout the year. These data have been and will be used to guide the educational collaboration, track improvements in patient outcomes, and determine program development objectives for future cardiac training missions and related activities.

  • Adult Cardiac Care Training

    Adult cardiac careA Heart to Heart team of adult cardiac specialists traveled to Costa Rica to conduct our very first adult cardiac training mission in Costa Rica at the San Juan de Dios Hospital. Our team focused on minimally invasive surgical techniques for valve repairs and replacements in adults.
