Children's Literacy and Book Distribution
Since our founding in 1992, we have distributed more than 3 million books, with over half going to Title 1 schools. In 2022 alone, the Childrens Book Project (CBP) processed 154,878 books donated to us, and via our Book Bank program, distributed 138,325 free books to children and their families living in low-income neighborhoods, as well as schools, shelters, child care and child advocacy organizations that serve under-resourced communities in San Francisco and the Bay Area. CBP also hosts educators and nonprofit service partners for our bi-monthly, early literacy Read Aloud program, and we fund the purchase of new multilingual books and books with broader themes, characters, cultural and racial representation for these partner organizations to share with their families. We offer a Teen Ambassador program, providing training to high school youth to go back into their communities to promote literacy, and a Second Reading program that delivers gently-used books directly to spots where families live, work and gather and where there is little access to books. In 2023, we will launch the Storytime program, CBPs first foray into direct-to-child/family services.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$282.2K
