  • Support for Families with Disabled Children

    It is said that one in four babies in Okinawa is low birth weight and the incidence of disabled children is high. Because hospitals cannot provide long-term hospitalization and because Okinawa is a remote island there are no facilities available so even severely handicapped children children with medical care who require ventilators and other medical equipment are forced to receive care at home. The number of children with medical care living at home is increasing year by year due to advances in medical care. Social support is not keeping up and families are under a heavy burden. We believe it is important to prevent isolation increase the number of friends and gain the understanding of society. Approximately 320 families benefited- Children Kana-san Okinawa

  • Nanbu Rehabilitation Center for Handicapped Children

    Okinawa Nanbu Rehabilitation and Medical Center opened in March 1960 when Okinawa was still under U.S. administration as a facility for physically handicapped children. At the time of its start the facility had a capacity for 50 children - Nanbu Rehabilitation

  • Support for Young Mothers and Youth

    Provide support for young expectant and nursing mothers children and young people in their late teens who are not supported by the existing child welfare system or the Niji Fund sister organization who supports orphans after they graduate high school by giving them a place to go a place to live and a place to work. 110 people benefited - NPO ARU
