Conroe Community Science Fair
Conroe Community Science Fair (Initiated and In Progress) Objective: To engage the local community in scientific exploration and education while raising awareness of Event Horizon Research's mission. The event is designed to offer hands-on science experiences, interactive exhibits, and educational activities that encourage STEM participation. Accomplishments: Initial development and planning have begun, including drafting a high-level overview of the event structure. Research has been conducted on securing a venue, recruiting exhibitors, and designing activities such as interactive exhibits, workshops, and competitions. Outreach efforts to potential community partners and sponsors have also been initiated. Open Knowledge Database Development (Initiated and In Progress) Objective: To create a freely accessible digital library compiling open-access, public domain, and Creative Commons resources, making scientific and educational materials available to the public. This initiative supports lifelong learning and equitable access to knowledge. Accomplishments: Research has been conducted on the technical requirements and infrastructure needed to host a scalable and accessible database. Initial work has begun on website structure and content categorization to ensure efficient navigation and usability. The project remains in its early stages as we explore the best practices for organizing and maintaining an extensive collection of resources. AI Safety & Ethics Research (Initiated and In Progress) Objective: To critically examine the ethical implications and safety concerns surrounding artificial intelligence, focusing on its current capabilities, limitations, and potential societal impact. This research aims to provide insights that inform ethical AI development and policy decisions. Accomplishments: A structured research project titled Navigating the Horizon: Evaluating the State, Ethics, and Future Directions of Artificial Intelligence has been initiated. This project includes a literature review of existing AI frameworks, ethical guidelines, and safety protocols, along with the development of research objectives to assess AI's trajectory. A research methodology has been established, incorporating expert interviews, case studies, and policy analysis. Work is ongoing to synthesize findings into actionable insights.
