What is Impala?
Impala is a pioneering software platform dedicated to democratizing social impact data. Our mission is to revolutionize how social impact is understood, measured, and achieved by providing accessible, actionable insights to nonprofits, grantmakers, and networks. With our unparalleled database, innovative tools, and commitment to supporting the needs of the not for profit sector, we empower organizations to make informed decisions, maximize their impact, and drive positive change in communities worldwide. -
Where does Impala get its data
Most of Impala's data is sourced directly from Form 990s that have been released by the IRS.
This data is supplemented by additional 990 uploads by users, and self-reported grant information from funders and nonprofits alike. To upload a new 990 to your profile and update your data, see here. -
How much does this cost?
Impala Essentials, which includes Search, Profiles, and basic List functionality, is entirely free and always will be! Users can have an unlimited number of profile searches and views.
Our premium products, such as Impala for Fundraisers and Ecosystems, do have an additional charge. However, thanks to our partnerships and supporters, many accounts are pre-approved for extended free trial access to Ecosystems. Reach out to support@impala.digital to find out if you qualify for this free access under one of our partnerships.
Additionally, we understand that for many organizations, and particularly nonprofits, price can be a significant hurdle. That's why we have an array of discounts to help lower the cost and ensure Impala remains accessible to the entire sector. Click the Upgrade option on Impala or check out our payments FAQ to see which discounts you qualify for.
My Information

Who can see my information?
Please see our Privacy Policy for the most complete and updated information on how we use your information.
Admin users on the same account as you can see your name, email, title, and your last log in. Users from outside of your account/organization cannot view any of this information unless it was reported publicly on your Impala profile.
If you've been reported as an employee, a board member, or an executive on a Form 990, your name, title, reported compensation, and associated years will be visible to all users on Impala under the People section of your organization's profile. This data is publicly available from the IRS as part of the Form 990 your organization filed. Similarly, if an Admin user on your account reports you as an employee, board member, or executive on your profile, or reports additional information about you such as your name, title or associated years, it will also be visible to users on Impala.
If a user has email credits available from their premium Impala for Fundraisers subscription, they can use one to also view your email contact. Please note, this email information is provided by a third party and is not sourced from the information you provide Impala when creating your user. -
Can I remove my contact info?
To have your account removed from Impala and your email deleted from our users list you can reach out to support@impala.digital. For California residents, please also see our Personal Information Requests and Don't sell my personal information forms.
In keeping with Impala's mission to make data accessible to all, you won't be able to hide or remove your name from the People sections or search on Impala if it was originally sourced from a Form 990. That's because this information is already made publicly available by IRS, which publishes all filed Form 990s. -
Can I delete my profile or account?
Your individual account can be deleted by an Admin user on your account or by reaching out to support@impala.digital. In order to ensure that public data remains accessible, Impala does not delete public profiles of organizations. -
Can I edit my organization's financials tab?
No, the financial information of your organization is pulled directly from published Form 990s. However, if you notice any discrepancies that need to be corrected, please reach out to support@impala.digital for assistance.
Who can use Impala?
Anyone can have an account on Impala and access all the free data in Essentials!
Currently, public profiles are only available for US-based, registered 501(c)(3) organizations and US-based institutional funders. Check below to see if a profile may already be waiting for you on Impala, or is coming soon.
- My organization is ___, can I have a public profile?
- Not based in the United States
Not yet, but profiles for organizations registered outside of the US are something we are looking into for the future.
In the meantime, you can use Impala's Search, Profiles, and Ecosystems features to discover and learn more about any foundation or nonprofit registered in the US. You can also use keywords when building an Ecosystem to look for organizations supporting international causes. Keywords work by searching organizations' names and mission statements. So, for example, adding in the name of the country or region or using a keyword like “Friends of” can help find organizations supporting those causes.

- A government organization
Not yet, but we are looking into building these in the future. In the meantime, you can use Impala's Search, Profiles, Ecosystems features to discover and learn more about any foundation or nonprofit in the US.
If you are a part of a government organization, please reach out to us at support@impala.digital to collaborate on your Impala experience.
- Fiscally sponsored by another organization
Not yet, but we are looking into building these in the future. Since fiscally sponsored organizations don't have their own EINs, they're not currently distinguished within Impala.
In the meantime, you can continue to use Impala's Search, Profiles, and Ecosystems features. - A corporation
Not yet, but if your corporation has a separate 501(c)(3) foundation, you can claim that profile. Either way, you can always use Impala's Search, Profiles, and Ecosystems features.
