Interfaith Social Services Food Pantry
Interfaith’s Food Pantry is one of the largest emergency food programs in Greater Boston, serving thousands of South Shore residents every year. We also operate the largest food rescue program on the South Shore salvaging food from dozens of local supermarkets. The Food Pantry’s “Joy for Children” initiatives bring happiness to thousands of disadvantaged local children each year by distributing children’s books, Halloween costumes, bunny baskets, holiday gifts, backpacks full of school supplies, Thanksgiving meals and more. Hygiene is not a luxury, it is a basic human necessity. In addition to basic hygiene supplies like soap, shampoo, deodorant etc. our food pantry distributes 50 diapers per child to each food pantry client with young children. Also, all women and adolescent girls receive 25 pads or tampons when they visit our food pantry. Each year we distributed 150,000+ pads, tampons and diapers to the women and children served by our emergency programs.Geographies105 Adams St, Quincy, MA 02169, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedFood aid,Free goods distribution,Gift distributionExtremely poor people,Low-income people,Working poor58.5K$2.8MNew Directions Counseling Center
The New Directions Counselling Center is a safety net for the uninsured and underinsured members of our community who have no place else to turn for help. For 75+ years our clinicians have provided therapy and counselling services to families and individuals in need. Most forms of health insurance are accepted, however, the majority of our clients do not have health insurance or they cannot afford the co-pays and deductibles required by their carriers. Many of our clients are referred from emergency rooms and other counselling centers in Massachusetts. All clients are assessed on a sliding-fee-scale based on federal poverty rates. Clients’ co-pay amount is tied to their income. Clients with no income pay nothing. In order to break down financial barriers to treatment each client pays nothing for their first four sessions, regardless of income.Geographies101 Adams St, Quincy, MA 02169, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedSubstance abuse treatment,Mental health counselingAge groups,Extremely poor people,Low-income people,Working poor200$382.5KHomeSafe
HomeSafe provides homelessness prevention services to hundreds of families and individuals in emergency situations each year with the goal of keeping them “safe at home” instead of facing the tragedy of homelessness. In addition to preserving tenancy, we strive to prevent basic utility shut offs for some clients and provided budget counseling for all of the households that we assist.Geographies105 Adams St, Quincy, MA 02169, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedHousing loss prevention,Rent and mortgage assistance,Utility expense assistanceAge groups,Economically disadvantaged people737$221.1K
