Child Care Teacher Mentoring Program
This program recruits, places, and pays teachers-in-training for a classroom practicum with a supportive, experienced, trained Mentor Teacher. This program is focused on meaningful classroom experiences while also removing barriers and expanding access to careers in early education through linguistically and culturally relevant Child Development Courses in partnership with Urban College . Since the 1980's, The Community Group has operated a Teen Parent Infant and Toddler Program housed at Lawrence High School to serve the child care and parent development needs of teen parents attending Lawrence High School and alternative high schools in the city of Lawrence. The program provides year-round, full-time high quality child care to infants and toddlers (0-3 years) in order to make sure they are well cared for and supported in their growth and development while their parents continue to pursue and complete their education, graduate from high school, and begin post-secondary education and job training opportunities that will set them and their child up for lifetime success and self sufficiency. The program also provides intensive case management and support to the teen moms and dads as well as weekly parenting classes and workshops targeting health and safety, nutrition, child development, and college and career readiness.GeographiesLawrence, MA, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedEarly childhood education,Adolescent parenting,Parent educationYoung adults,Infants and toddlers,Adolescent parents,Students,At-risk youth45–
