24/7 Crisis Services
Crisis services includes training and mentoring volunteers (adults and youth) to provide compassionate, confidential listening on our phone and text Helpline to callers and texters of all ages who are seeking support for depression and suicidal thoughts. This includes response to the national 988 3-digit code, our helpline and Hey Sam teen text line. In FY 2022, befriending volunteers (331 adults and 40 youth “Samariteens”) answered 74,67881,659 calls on the Helpline. In total the Crisis Services supported 29,505 unique individuals. Samaritans’ CEO program provides workshops and trainings throughout the community to provide others with the ability to support people they know who may be at risk of suicide. Over the past year, we have provided both in person and virtual trainings. In 2022, we presented 234 prevention workshops reaching over 7,627 participants. GSS provides support to loss survivors through SafePlace peer support groups and through the Survivor-to-Survivor Network for individual visits. In 2022, GSS engaged 19 Facilitators to support 149 SafePlace meetings attended 1,618 times by 171 unique participants, 373 of which were by 40 MetroWest participants.
