Real Estate Development
TND's Real Estate Development program produces and preserves affordable and mixed income multi-family rental properties and homes for sale for low-income residents. TND currently has a portfolio of 649 affordable rental homes in Chelsea, Revere, and Everett, that are home to 1,500 residents. Our homes provide a safe, healthy, and stable living for all residents. Our affordable housing production is rapidly expanding - we have 349 homes for people who are low-income set to open by 2028. In addition to serving families of low-income, many of which make 60% or less than the Area Median Income, we provide housing for vulnerable populations including seniors, young parents, formerly homeless veterans and families, and households with a disabled member.GeographiesChelsea, MA 02150, USA;Revere, MA, USA;Everett, MA 02149, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedCommunity improvement,Housing developmentAdults,Children and youth,Indigenous peoples,Multiracial people,People of African descent,People of Asian descent,People of European descent,People of Latin American descent,People of Middle Eastern descent,Economically disadvantaged people,Immigrants and migrants,Unemployed people,Families,Parents,Widows and widowers1.5K–Community Building
TND’s Community Building (CB) program aims to elevate and empower the voices of community members to shape the future of our communities and their own lives. Social justice, leadership development, and coalition building are the three key strategies that TND's CB team implements for residents. In addition, CB staff seeks to organize and engage Chelsea and Revere community members in campaigns that address municipal and statewide housing equity issues. We offer opportunities to learn in depth about the issues facing our neighborhoods, and provide training on how to effectively come together with others to organize for change.GeographiesChelsea, MA 02150, USA;Revere, MA, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedCommunity organizing,Community service,Community beautification,Environmental justice,Unknown or not classified,Urban developmentAdults,People of Middle Eastern descent,People of Latin American descent,People of European descent,People of African descent,People of Asian descent,Multiracial people,Indigenous peoples,Families,Economically disadvantaged people,Immigrants and migrants,Unemployed people750–CONNECT
Through TND's CONNECT program, we offer the following services: (1) Public Benefits Enrollment and free tax services via the CONNECT Hotline; (2) Financial Coaching and Financial Education Workshops; and (3) Career Coaching and Employment services. Referrals from one CONNECT service to another play a critical role in helping clients move up the economic ladder. We refer clients that come in for one service, such as rental assistance available through our Hotline, to other CONNECT programs such as financial and/or career coaching where they can improve their economic and/or employment situation. We call this “bundling” and last year, 31% of all CONNECT clients accessed (bundled) more than one service. Our internal data shows us that the more CONNECT services a client utilizes, the more economic gains that client achieves. CONNECT primarily serves low-income first- and second-generation immigrants that live in Chelsea and Revere. In 2023: 84% of our program beneficiaries were from Chelsea or Revere; 65% of our participants identify as female; 64% of our participants identify as Latino; and 33% of the head of households were single parents.GeographiesChelsea, MA 02150, USA;Revere, MA, USA;Everett, MA 02149, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedEmployment,Financial counseling,Job services,Single parent supportYoung adults,Indigenous peoples,Multiracial people,People of African descent,People of Asian descent,People of European descent,People of Latin American descent,People of Middle Eastern descent,Parents,Families,Extremely poor people,Homeless people,Low-income people,Immigrants,Undocumented immigrants,Unemployed people2K–
