Community Farmers Market Initiative
Farmers Market-Harvest Home operated 14 community farmers markets across underserved neighborhoods in New York City, providing reliable access to fresh, affordable, locally grown produce. Our markets served more than 30,000 customers, including families, older adults, and individuals using nutrition benefits such as SNAP, WIC, and Senior FMNP. In addition to produce access, Harvest Home delivered on-site cooking demonstrations, nutrition education, and seasonal incentive programs including Health Bucks and Healthy Seniors vouchersto help customers stretch their food budgets and make healthier food choices. Through partnerships with community organizations and local health clinics, Harvest Home advanced its mission to reduce food insecurity, promote wellness, and increase equitable access to nutritious foods. These markets significantly strengthened the buying power of underserved NYC residents, enabling them to purchase over $311,000 worth of fresh produce using Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP/EBT), NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYCDOHMH) Health Bucks, and our USDA-funded Healthy Seniors Healthy Shoppers (H2S2) program.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$475.6KHealthy Eating and Living Program
