Recovery
Our LGBTQ communities face a number of health disparities, including a greater risk for alcohol and substance use. To combat this, The Center offers assistance for people struggling with substance use. The Center’s adult recovery services include: - Individual and group counseling - Alcohol and substance use education - Biopsychosocial assessments - Community outreach and education - Medical assessments - DUI assessments - Psychiatric evaluations and psychotropic - Recovery maintenance - Supportive counseling for significant others The Center’s outpatient substance use treatment program for youth is designed specifically to help LGBTQ+ young people, ages 13 and older, make healthy decisions about drugs and alcohol. Treatment combines weekly individual and group counseling, with participants asked to attend the program three-to-five times a week depending on work/school commitments. The Center is invested in making all homes safe and affirming for LGBT youth. As part of our commitment to families, we offer The LGBTQ Institute for Family Therapy Certification Program (LIFT). LIFT is the first and only LGBTQ-specific family therapy certification program offering specialized training for clinicians to keep families with LGBTQ children unified, and support the reunification efforts of families who are separated from their LGBTQ children. Upon program completion, clinicians will receive 54 CE hours. Since our founding in 1983, The Center has been fully committed to providing HIV and AIDS services to our community, which has been profoundly affected by the AIDS epidemic. We offer counseling for individuals, groups, couples and families, plus a variety of events, speakers and informal social gatherings for positive people and their loved ones. Our programs provide support for people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS and, thanks to our generous donors, we do it free of charge.
