Program 1 [2020]
Each year, Children's Health Fund (CHF) sees steady annualized growth through expanding our National Network clinical sites, adding innovative programming, and responding to public health crises. In 2020, our National Network partners served 101,010 children and family members in 512,401 clinical and health education encounters, an increase over the prior year's 436,503 visits. Much of the spike in visits was due to the focus on COVID health education; while our partners delivered 33,706 health education encounters in 2019, that number was 108,042 in 2020. Also of note, telehealth encounters represented 152,603 encounters in 2020, as compared to only 2,481 in 2019. Telehealth encounters include medical, mental health, case management, dental, and other types of visits. This increase showcases the incredible work of CHF's partners to initiate and expand telehealth programming to meet the needs of their patients during the early phases of the pandemic.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$6.5MProgram 2 [2020]
In 2014, CHF launched Healthy and Ready to Learn (HRL) to address health issues that impact learning in New York City. The programming addresses needs rooted in social, racial, and economic inequities by empowering school staff and families to create trauma-sensitive environments. In 2020, the team was challenged by school closures for the pandemic which eliminated screenings for vision and dental issues. CHF was fortunate to have established a robust online resource and training center that could be used during the lockdown. Website users quadrupled in the first weeks of the pandemic. The staff hosted professional development workshops, sessions on care for the caregiver, support for remote learning, and COVID education discussions.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$1.8MProgram 3 [2020]
CHF has always worked to protect and expand children's access to quality care and continues to monitor and respond to health reform implementation and the impact on kids. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed deep-rooted inequities in our society and magnified their consequences for those most vulnerable to infection. As the country continues to face unprecedented challenges with the continued spread of COVID-19, CHF remains persistent in fighting on behalf of children and families in underinvested communities. The 2020 annual Advocacy Conference was held virtually in September with panel presentations by leading policy experts on topics ranging from telehealth and broadband access to immigration; Medicaid and the child health safety net; and the federal budget, economic impacts, and recovery measures. CHF staff, along with 22 National Network leaders, met remotely with over 70 Congressional offices.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$1.2M
