Starfish Summer Learning Program
Starfish Summer Learning Program, located at the Y, is a day camp for youth aged 5 – 12. Guided by skilled professionals, Starfish reduces summer learning-loss of English Language Arts. The youth play reading games, complete worksheets, and read (or are read to). Starfish also reduces the risk that the children will drown because it teaches them to swim. The youth participate in enrichment activities such as “working” at the Kingston YMCA Farm Project, learning to grow and eat vegetables. They enjoy arts, games, and more. In 2024 Starfish went to two state parks thanks to a grant.
