Social Care Network
As part of our ongoing mission to support all immigrants and refugees in building stable, healthy, and empowered lives, we are proud to introduce our expanded support services through the Social Care Network (SCN). This initiative is designed to provide holistic, wraparound care for qualified clients, addressing critical social determinants of health and well-being. The Social Care Network offers the following comprehensive services: 1. Expanded Housing Assistance We assist clients in securing and maintaining stable housing through: Rent Assistance (including temporary housing support) Housing Navigation & Pre-Tenancy Services (helping clients find and prepare for housing) Utility Set-Up & Assistance (support with essential services like electricity, gas, water) Community Transitional Services (aid during major life transitions, such as resettlement) Tenancy Sustaining Services (ongoing support to help clients remain housed) 2. Nutrition Support To ensure access to basic nutritional needs, we provide: Pantry Stocking (essential food items for individuals and families) Cooking Supplies (basic utensils and tools to support meal preparation) 3. Social Care Management Our care managers help clients connect with services beyond our direct offerings by: Providing Direct Referrals to external social service providers not covered by ACA services Coordinating Resources to address individual needs holistically 4. The American Civic Association (ACA) offers the Refugee Social Services Program (RSSP) to support newly arrived refugees in the Binghamton, NY area as they transition to life in the United States. Operating from ACA’s main office at 131 Front Street, Binghamton, NY, the program is open Monday–Thursday from 11 AM to 4 PM, and Friday from 9 AM to 2 PM. The RSSP is designed to promote economic self-sufficiency and long-term employment success through a combination of individualized support, career development, and community integration services. The program primarily serves refugees as defined in the Office of Refugee Resettlement’s (ORR) eligibility guidelines. Core Program Services: Employment Preparation & Placement One-on-one career counseling Resume and cover letter development Job search assistance and application support Interview preparation and mock interviews Job placement with ongoing retention follow-ups at 90 days, 6 months, and 12 months Transitional & Support Services Case management to address barriers to employment, including: Childcare referrals Transportation support (bus schedules, passes, DMV navigation) Interpretation/translation assistance Social adjustment activities and community connection opportunities Immigration legal services (e.g., adjustment of status, EAD applications) GED preparation and adult education referrals English Language Instruction Up to 21 hours of ESL classes per week, on-site and evening options available GED classes and language tutoring tailored to participant needs Professional Development Job readiness training, workplace norms, and U.S. cultural orientation Workshops in time management, communication, and conflict resolution Outcomes & Follow-Up: The RSSP tracks participant progress through key milestones, including: Job placement confirmation via employer verification or documentation 90-day job retention monitoring with pay stub verification Self-sufficiency assessment, based on income relative to 125% of the federal poverty level 6- and 12-month follow-ups to ensure continued employment and stabilityGeographiesBinghamton, NY, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedCommunity and economic development,Health,Human rights,Human servicesCultural Heritage,Immigrants and migrants,Victims and oppressed people––Ukrainian Supplemental Appropriation to Resettlement Agencies
The American Civic Association (ACA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Binghamton, NY, a community rich with Central and Eastern European culture from its diverse residents. We operate Monday-Thursday 9am-4pm and Fridays 9am-2pm and our facility is located at 131 Front Street, Binghamton, NY 13905. The goal of this project is to holistically serve USARA-eligible participants who are integrating into our Broome County community. We aim to serve at least 150 USARA-eligible participants who are integrating into Binghamton and the Southern Tier of New York State after escaping conflict in their home country. Our competent staff at the ACA will deliver direct services to participants.
