ADHIKAAR CREATES ACCESS TO INFORMATION, BUILDS COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP AND GROWS COLLECTIVE POWER TO WIN RIGHTS FOR OUR NEPALI-SPEAKING COMMUNITIES, AND DIGNITY AND EQUITY FOR ALL. THROUGH A MIX OF MEMBER-LED TRAINING, ORGANIZING, ADVOCACY AND COALITION WORK, WE ARE TRANSFORMING LOW-WAGE INDUSTRIES. WE HAVE SUCCESFULLY ADVOCATED FOR THE NYS DOMESTIC WORKER BILL OF RIGHTS; CO-FOUNDED AND LED THE NY HEALTHY NAIL SALON COALITION AND CREATED THE "NAIL SALON WORKERS BILL OF RIGHTSX; AND WON (RE)DESIGNATION OF TEMPORARY PROTECTED STATUS FOR NEPAL. IN FY 21, THE FOLLOWING ARE ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 3 MAJOR PROGRAM AREAS. 1)WORKERS RIGHTS: WE PROVIDED 750+ NEPALI-SPEAKING INDIVIDUALS WITH EMERGENCY RELIEF FUNDS (ERF) FOCUSING ON THOSE INELIGIBLE FOR FEDERAL STIMULUS AND UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS. WE ADAPTED SERVICES AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT TRAININGS TO INCORPORATE PANDEMIC EDUCATION. WE TRAINED 250+ MEMBERS IN DOMESTIC WORKER AND NAIL SALON WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT TRAINING. WE STRENGTHENED THE DIGITAL LITERACY OF OVER 600 MEMBERS THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN ONLINE PROGRAMMING. WE STRENGTHEN THE LEADERSHIP OF AND SUPPORTS FOR 24 OF OUR MEMBERS WHO ARE SURVIVORS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING BY IMPLEMENTING A NEW ANTI-TRAFFICKING CURRICULUM AND PRIORITIZING WELL-BEING SUPPORTS FOR OF TRAFFICKING SURVIVORS THROUGH THE PANDEMIC. AS A STEERING COMMITTEE MEMBER OF THE NYC CARE CAMPAIGN, WE LAUNCHED THE DOMESTIC WORKER NYC CARE PLATFORM ON KEY ISSUES THAT SUPPORT LOW-WAGE WORKERS INCLUDING PROPOSED CITY BENEFITS LIKE RETIREMENT AND UNIVERSAL CHILD CARE. WE SUCCESSFULLY NEGOTIATED WITH THE NY DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND GOVERNOR'S OFFICE THE REOPENING GUIDELINES FOR NAIL SALONS WHICH ENSURED BETTER WORKER PROTECTIONS DURING THE PANDEMIC. 2)IMMIGRANT RIGHTS: WE ORGANIZED 140+ NEPALI TPS-HOLDERS FROM SEVEN STATES TO BUILD THE CAMPAIGN FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCY AND TAKE ACTION ON TPS. WE TRAINED 31 OF THESE MEMBERS TO SHARE THEIR STORIES AS PART OF THE CAMPAIGN'S EDUCATIONAL EFFORTS. ADDTIONALLY, WE PROVIDED CASE MANAGEMENT-RELATED SERVICES TO 1,600+ NEPALI-SPEAKING IMMIGRANTS ACCROSS THE COUNTRY. WE ALSO CONDUCTED AND RELEASED OUR FIRST-EVER NATIONAL SURVEY REPORT "NEPALI TPS HOLDERS MAKE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO AMERICA" IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CENTER FOR AMERICAN PROGRESS (CAP) AND THE U.S.IMMIGRATION POLICY CENTER (USIPC) AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA SAN DIEGO. 3)ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE: WE SUPPORTED OVER 1,500 PEOPLE WHO SPEAK NEPALI, HINDI AND TIBETAN IN RECEIVING HEALTH CARE FROM THE STATE OF NEW YORK AND 500+ PEOPLE WITH COVID-19 RELATED QUERIES AND VACCINE ACCESS.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2020 – Jun 30, 2021Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$960.5KProgram 1 [2024]

THE FOLLOWING ARE ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN THREE MAJOR PROGRAM AREAS: 1) WORKERS RIGHTS: WE PROVIDED WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT TRAINING TO 1,428 MEMBERS. FOR DOMESTIC WORKERS, THIS INCLUDED TRAININGS ON NANNY CARE, NEWBORN CARE, CPR, WE MAKE HISTORY, KNOW YOUR RIGHTS, AND IMMIGRATION NAVIGATION. FOR NAIL SALON WORKERS, WE CONDUCTED 35-HOUR LICENSING COURSES, PRACTICAL CLASSES, AND ON-THE-JOB TRAINING. IN TOTAL, WE PROVIDED ONE-ON-ONE SUPPORT TO 6,941 MEMBERS THROUGH MONTHLY MEETINGS IN NY AND NJ WITH THEIR VARIOUS INQUIRIES. OUR CASE WORK SERVICES SUPPORTED 356 MEMBERS ON ISSUES INCLUDING IMMIGRATION, LABOR TRAFFICKING, WORKERS RIGHTS, GOVERNMENT BENEFITS, HOUSING, MENTAL HEALTH, FRAUD, AND MORE. THROUGH OUR ADULT LITERACY PROGRAM, WE ENGAGED OVER 300 MEMBERS IN BEGINNER, BASIC, INTERMEDIATE, ADVANCED, DIGITAL LITERACY, AND CITIZENSHIP CLASSES. WE ORGANIZED FIVE ACTIVE CAMPAIGNS ADVANCING WORKER PROTECTIONS AND COMMUNITY WELL-BEING. 2) IMMIGRANT RIGHTS: WE CONTINUED TO SUPPORT NEPALI-SPEAKING TPS HOLDERS AND IMMIGRANTS ACROSS MULTIPLE STATES THROUGH DIRECT SERVICES, CASE SUPPORT, AND RIGHTS EDUCATION, ENSURING OUR COMMUNITY HAS ACCESS TO LEGAL AND SAFETY RESOURCES WHILE FIGHTING FOR LONG-TERM IMMIGRATION RELIEF. 3) ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE: WE SUPPORTED 1,483 COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN ACCESSING HEALTH CARE THROUGH ENROLLMENT SUPPORT, AND APPOINTMENT SCHEDULING, AND OUR GROCERIES TO GO PROGRAM. ADHIKAAR ADVANCES DIGNITY AND JUSTICE FOR WORKING-CLASS IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES PRIMARILY FROM NEPAL, BHUTAN, INDIA, BURMA AND OF TIBETAN DESCENDANT THAT SPEAK NEPALI THROUGH AN INTEGRATED MODEL OF ORGANIZING, ADVOCACY, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, AND DIRECT SERVICES. ROOTED IN SOCIAL JUSTICE, ADHIKAAR BUILDS POWER BY ORGANIZING DOMESTIC WORKERS, NAIL SALON WORKERS, AND IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES AROUND WORKERS RIGHTS, IMMIGRATION PROTECTIONS SUCH AS TPS, AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, WHILE ALSO PROVIDING CRITICAL DIRECT SERVICES INCLUDING ENGLISH FOR EMPOWERMENT, NEW IMMIGRANT NAVIGATION, HEALTHCARE ACCESS, CASE MANAGEMENT, WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT, AND YOUTH PROGRAMMING. THROUGH COMMUNITY EDUCATION, LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, RESEARCH, AND ADVOCACY, ADHIKAAR ENSURES THAT IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT ONLY SUPPORTED IN MEETING IMMEDIATE NEEDS, BUT ARE EQUIPPED TO LEAD, ORGANIZE, AND SHAPE POLICIES THAT IMPACT THEIR LIVES AND COMMUNITIES. IN 2025 ADHIKAAR CELEBRATED A MAJOR VICTORY WITH THE PASSAGE OF THE NEW JERSEY DOMESTIC WORKERS BILL OF RIGHTS. ADDITIONALLY, ADHIKAARS IMPACT THROUGH OUR DIRECT SERVICES AND ORGANIZING ARE AS FOLLOWS: EXPANDED HEALTHCARE ACCESS TO NEARLY 1,200 INDIVIDUALS. REACHED OVER 500 PEOPLE IN KNOW YOUR RIGHTS TRAININGS. SUPPORTED OVER 500 INDIVIDUALS IN CPR, NANNY, AND ON THE JOB NAIL SALON HEALTH TRAINING THROUGH OUR WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM. ASSISTED OVER 350 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH CASEWORK SERVICES IN IMMIGRATION, WAGE THEFT, WORKPLACE DISCRIMINATION, LABOR, AND HOUSING, GOVERNMENT BENEFITS AND LABOR TRAFFICKING.
