NATIONAL TEAM: IN 2020, USA SWIMMING WAS UNABLE TO TRAVEL INTERNATIONALLY, BUT WE WERE ABLE TO HOST DOMESTIC EVENTS, WHICH ALLOWED OUR ATHLETES TO PREPARE FOR THE POSTPONED OLYMPIC GAMES. SPORT DEVELOPMENT: SPORT DEVELOPMENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDED WORKING WITH CLUBS TO DEVELOP RETURN TO TRAINING AND COMPETITION PLANS IN COMPLIANCE WITH LOCAL COVID-19 PROTOCOLS. THE SPORT DEVELOPMENT STAFF LAUNCHED THE DEI COUNCIL TO PROVIDE GUIDANCE AND EXPERTISE IN CREATING A MORE DIVERSE, EQUITABLE, AND INCLUSIVE ENVIRONMENT IN COMPETITIVE SWIMMING. OUR TEAM CONDUCTED OVER 50 ONLINE PROGRAMS ON COACH EDUCATION, LSC DEVELOPMENT, ATHLETE PROGRAMMING, AND COVID EDUCATION, INCLUDING VIRTUAL ATHLETE SELECT CAMPS, NATIONAL AGE GROUP COACH'S CLINIC, AND DEI PROGRAMMING. WE SUCCESSFULLY MOVED OUR CLUB BUSINESS MANAGEMENT COURSE TO A VIRTUAL PLATFORM AND DOUBLED THE PARTICIPANT NUMBER FROM PREVIOUS YEARS, WITH NEARLY 500 PARTICIPANTS. DURING A CHALLENGING YEAR, WE FORGED AHEAD ON SEVERAL KEY PROJECTS, INCLUDING A DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION PROJECT TO RE-PLATFORM/REARCHITECT OUR DATABASE AND APPLICATION ENVIRONMENT; BUILD A COMPREHENSIVE COACH EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR ALL 20,000 OF OUR COACH MEMBERS, AND ASSIST OUR SAFE SPORT TEAM IN HELPING ALL OF OUR CLUBS BECOME SAFE SPORT RECOGNIZED PROGRAMS.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$3.7MProgram 3 [2020]
COMMERCIAL: USA SWIMMING EXPERIENCED A YEAR UNLIKE ANY OTHER WITH ALL COMPETITION, SWIM PRACTICES, AND IN-PERSON OPERATIONS SHUTTERING IN MID-MARCH DUE TO COVID-19. COMMUNICATIONS MUCH OF 2020 WAS FOCUSED ON GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND TO SUPPORT EVERY DIVISION WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION IN PROACTIVELY COMMUNICATING MESSAGING, IMPORTANT UPDATES AND INITIATIVE DEVELOPMENTS TO ALL INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDER GROUPS TO MINIMIZE THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF COVID-19. STRATEGIC MOTIVATIONAL AND ENGAGING CONTENT WAS DEVELOPED, FOCUSING ON INCREASED ENGAGEMENT ACROSS ALL OWNED CHANNELS. ADDITIONALLY, IN OUR CONTINUED EFFORT TO STREAMLINE ORGANIZATIONAL MESSAGES WHILE CAPITALIZING ON OUR MOST FORWARD-FACING MEDIUM, OVERSIGHT OF WEBSITE EDITORIAL WAS MOVED TO THE COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT. PARTNERSHIPS & EVENT MARKETING2020 WAS A DIFFICULT YEAR FOR REVENUE GENERATION FROM PARTNERS AND SPONSORS, BUT USA SWIMMING EXPLORED CREATIVE INITIATIVES TO MAINTAIN SUCCESSFUL RELATIONSHIPS THROUGH INACTIVITY AND UNDER PAYMENT. WHILE MOST LIVE EVENTS COULD NOT HAPPEN AS INTENDED, USA SWIMMING CREATED A MERCHANDISE RELIEF CAMPAIGN TO HELP RAISE MONEY FOR NATIONAL TEAM ATHLETES. AND FOUND WAYS TO ENGAGE YOUNGER ATHLETES THROUGH COMPETITION IN THE VIRTUAL SPEEDO SWIM AGAIN SERIES. BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE AND DIGITAL PLATFORMSADDITIONAL TARGETING CAPABILITIES AND NEW DATA SOURCE INTEGRATIONS HIGHLIGHT DATA ARCHITECTURE EXPANSIONS IN 2020. WE CONTINUE TO EXPAND OUR VIEW OF INDIVIDUALS THROUGH DATA ANALYSIS, WHILE INTEGRATING WITH ADDITIONAL INTERNAL SYSTEMS TO ENHANCE AND PERSONALIZE OUR MEMBER OUTREACH. CREATIVE SERVICES & VIDEO PRODUCTIONSIN EARLY 2020, NBCSN AND THE OLYMPIC CHANNEL AIRED BROADCASTS OF TWO TYR PRO SWIM SERIES EVENTS BEFORE ALL IN-PERSON EVENTS WERE SHUT DOWN. USA SWIMMING'S MEMBERSHIP FAVORITE SPLASH MAGAZINE WAS DELIVERED TWICE TO OVER 300,000 HOUSEHOLDS, A REDUCTION IN PRODUCTION OF 50% TO ACCOUNT FOR REFINED OPERATIONAL FUNDING DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. FOUNDATION DEVELOPMENTSUPPORT FOR THE USA SWIMMING FOUNDATION CONTINUED TO PROSPER UNDER THE STRUCTURE OF THE USA SWIMMING COMMERCIAL TEAM, AND THE TWO ENTITIES COLLABORATED CLOSER IN 2020 THAN EVER BEFORE.
