Survivor Services
We provide comprehensive services to meet the complex needs of adult and child survivors of domestic violence. Our proven evidence-based approach supports survivors healing from the trauma of domestic abuse through advocacy, counseling and legal services. We have a multi-disciplinary team of advocates, mental health counselors, and lawyers that provide an integrated web of support as the needs of survivors shift from crisis intervention to long-term healing and independence. We know that patterns of abuse start early; we also know that early intervention and prevention can change the culture of violence. Our children’s safety program works to break the cycle of violence by providing individual and family counseling, as well as educational and therapeutic groups for children and adolescents. All services are confidential and free, and childcare is provided.GeographiesNewburyport, MA, USA;Amesbury, MA, USA;Lawrence, MA, USA;Salisbury, MA, USA;Merrimac, MA 01860, USA;Groveland, MA, USA;Newbury, MA, USA;West Newbury, MA, USA;Georgetown, MA, USA;Rowley, MA, USA;Haverhill, MA, USA;Boxford, MA, USA;Methuen, MA 01844, USA;Andover, MA, USA;North Andover, MA 01845, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedDomestic violence,Legal servicesChildren and youth,Adults,LGBTQ people,Women and girls,Men and boys,People of African descent,People of European descent,People of Latin American descent,People of Asian descent,People of Middle Eastern descent,Indigenous peoples,Multiracial people,Economically disadvantaged people,Immigrants and migrants,Incarcerated people,At-risk youth,Victims and oppressed people,People with disabilities,Pregnant people,Persons with substance use disorder(s)1.2K–Youth Empowerment Services
Our Youth Empowerment Services (YES) use research-based and nationally recognized approaches to educate girls, boys and students who are gender non-conforming. YES prevention programs teach elementary, middle and high school students how to lead conversations about healthy relationships, recognize signs of an abusive relationship, and become empowered to make positive and healthy decisions.GeographiesAmesbury, MA, USA;Salisbury, MA, USA;Ipswich, MA, USA;Newburyport, MA, USA;Newbury, MA, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedYouth organizingChildren and youth,LGBTQ people,Girls,Boys––Domestic Violence Homicide Prevention
Research has shown that intimate partner domestic violence homicides are often predictable; and if they’re predictable, they’re preventable. The Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center is a nationally recognized leader in the fight to end domestic violence homicides. In 2005, we launched the country’s first Domestic Violence High Risk Team (DVHRT) in our hometown of Newburyport, MA. Since then, our research-based model has been implemented throughout Massachusetts and over 200 jurisdictions across the United States and recognized by the Department of Justice as a promising practice to reduce the threat of harm to intended victims, family members and first responders. Our skilled staff provides training and technical assistance for communities interested in preventing domestic violence homicide.GeographiesUnited StatesDatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedDomestic violenceAdults,Children and youth,LGBTQ people,Women and girls,Families,Parents,People of Middle Eastern descent,People of Asian descent,People of African descent,People of European descent,People of Latin American descent,Indigenous peoples,Multiracial people,Immigrants and migrants,Economically disadvantaged people,At-risk youth,Victims and oppressed people,People with disabilities,Persons with substance use disorder(s),Pregnant people––
