Homeownership Program
Homeownership Program: Families in need of a decent place to live, build safe and affordable homes partner with us to realize their dream of homeownership. Habitat houses are modestly sized. They are large enough for the homeowner familys needs, but small enough to keep utilities, construction, and maintenance costs affordable. Habitat makes its houses affordable for low-income families to purchase by using the labor of volunteers and prospective homeowners, employing efficient build methods, keeping house sizes modest, using donated construction materials and appliances, and issuing no-profit loans. Affordable homeownership helps create the conditions that free families from instability, stress, and fear and encourage self-reliance and confidence. During the fiscal year 2024, Northern Ocean Habitat served a family of four through its long-term homeownership program and built a total of 20 homes in total with this program.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2023 – Jun 30, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$1.2MNorthern Ocean Habitat ReStore

Critical Home Repair/Preservation Program: This is an initiative that seeks to provide a wide range of critical home repairs and ADA modifications for low-to-moderate income homeowners, including veterans and seniors, who are struggling to maintain their homes because of age, disability, financial or family circumstances. We partner with these homeowners to help them reclaim their homes with pride and dignity. The program allows families to stay in their homes and avoid the uncertainity, trauma, and expense of moving. Projects consist of interior and/or exterior repairs intended to alleviate critical health, life, safety issues, or code violations. Volunteer teams work wlong with subcontractors under the direction of Northern ocean Habitat's staff members to complete the repairs. We have partnered with over 350 local homeowners since the inception of this program.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2023 – Jun 30, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$12.6K
