Program 1 [2020]
SVREP contacted high schools and college campuses to register voters, conducted GOTV activities with live and digital contact to 1 million Latinos, trained Latinas to run for office and worked redistricting efforts in 2020. SVREP updated its APP and upgraded its website. For the 2020 election cycle, SVREP contacted 1,000 Texas high schools, 1,000 high schools in California, 105 Arizona high schools with Latino student compositions. In addition, SVREP contacted 250 Texas, 25 Arizona and 25 California community college campuses for voter registration in 2020. SVREP invested in updating its APP as well as promoting the value of registering to vote online. With thirty-three states granting eligible to vote voters. SVREP contacted 1,000,000 Latino voters using several overlapping strategies, including live volunteer phone banks, email messages, texting messages, and paid social media messages. We purchased a list of Latino households who had registered to vote since December of 2016. These voters would be voting for the first time in a general presidential election. We urged voters to vote early, by mail, or on Election Day in our targeted state. SVREP recruited 100 volunteers to take part in the virtual phone banks. These volunteers contacted a list of Texas voters in Bexar, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Harris, and some parts of the Rio Grande Valley. SVREP recruited the volunteers by raffling a 2020 new car. The raffle entailed volunteers making calls to Latino voters in Texas. SVREP was able to buy social media messages on Facebook (FB) and Instagram (IG), targeting Latino voters who resided in San Antonio, Fort Worth, and Dallas and overlapped with our email list. SVREP reached over 1.5 million Latinos. With the grant from the Brennan Center for Justice, SVREP was able to purchase these social media ads. During the month we used paid ads, the SVREP Facebook posts received over 250,000 likes. We partnered with Chef Moya and Food Fleet, Chef Moya to give 3,900 meals for the Feed the Polls intuitive. Each food truck provided 300 meals and promoted our stance stay in line after the polls close and vote! SVREP implemented its food trucks strategy in Arizona (2), Georgia (4), and Texas (7). Finally, as part of our voter education efforts, SVREP conducted two virtual Candidate Forums for the Texas US Senate and Railroad Commissioner during the primary elections. On September 25th, 2020, SVREP held a Candidate Campaign Training session for Latinas. 3 states were represented with 23 Latinas trained.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$299.4KVoter Registration and Community Engagement
