EXHIBITIONS:THE CARNEGIE INSTITUTE COMPRISES FOUR DIVERSE, DYNAMIC MUSEUMS INCLUDING THE CARNEGIE MUSEUM OF ART (CMOA), THE CARNEGIE MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY (CMNH), THE CARNEGIE SCIENCE CENTER (CSC), AND THE ANDY WARHOL MUSEUM (AWM). THROUGHOUT 2023, EACH MUSEUM OFFERED A RICH AND DIVERSE ROSTER OF EXHIBITIONS AND PROGRAMS. THE CARNEGIE INSTITUTE OFFERS MEMBERSHIPS AT A REDUCED RATE OR FOR FREE TO VARIOUS GROUPS IN THE COMMUNITY, INCLUDING FAMILY ACCESS MEMBERSHIP, TEEN MEMBERSHIP, AND ORGANIZATIONAL OUTREACH MEMBERSHIP.SEE SCHEDULE O FOR HIGHLIGHTS OF EACH MUSEUM'S EXHIBIT INITIATIVES.THE ANDY WARHOL MUSEUMTHE ANDY WARHOL MUSEUM (AWM) IS THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE SINGLE ARTIST MUSEUM IN THE WORLD, ILLUMINATING THE ART, LIFE, AND TIMES OF ONE OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL AMERICAN ARTISTS OF THE 20TH CENTURY. THE MUSEUM EXPLORES THE WORLD THROUGH THE LENS OF WARHOL, MOUNTING INNOVATIVE ORIGINAL EXHIBITIONS AND THOUGHT PROVOKING TRAVELING EXHIBITIONS, PRESENTING GENRE-BASED PERFORMANCES, AND SHOWCASING UP AND COMING ACTS, INCLUDING YOUNG ARTISTS FROM PITTSBURGH, WARHOL'S HOMETOWN. IN 2023, AWM LAUNCHED "THE VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO:SCEPTOR STUDIO SESSIONS," BUILT AROUND NEVER BEFORE HEARD TAPES OF THE ICONIC BAND'S FIRST RECORDING SESSIONS. ON JUNE 27TH, "ANATOMY OF A HUMAN," A 27 X 94 FT MURAL, BY LOCAL ARTIST MIKAEL OWUNNA, WAS UNVEILED IN THE POP DISTRICT. "POP GENERATION" FEATURED EXCLUSIVE GUIDED TOURS OF THE WARHOL'S COLLECTION AND SPECIAL EXHIBITIONS, TO SENIORS. THE YEAR ENDED WITH THE OPENING OF "UNSEEN: PERMANENT COLLECTION WORKS," WHICH FEATURED 60 WORKS THAT HAVE NEVER BEEN DISPLAYED IN THE MUSEUM. IN 2023, AWM WELCOMED 179,603 VISITORS.THE CARNEGIE SCIENCE CENTERINTERNATIONALLY, THE CARNEGIE SCIENCE CENTER'S (CSC) TRAVELING EXHIBITS AND PLANETARIUM SHOWS HAVE REACHED MILLIONS OF PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD. CSC BROUGHT "VIKINGS: WARRIORS OF THE NORTH SEA" TO THE NORTH SHORE IN EARLY 2023. IN OCTOBER, CSC RECEIVED A ROY L. SHAFER LEADING EDGE AWARD FOR VISITOR EXPERIENCE FOR THE MARS EXHIBITION'S COMMITMENT TO INCORPORATING COMMUNITY FEEDBACK INTO ITS DESIGN PROCESS. THE YEAR ENDED WITH "TITANIC: THE ARTIFACT EXHIBITION," WHICH PROVED TO BE THE MOST POPULAR VISITING SHOW. ATTENDANCE REACHED 572,686 IN 2023.CARNEGIE MUSEUM OF ARTCARNEGIE MUSEUM OF ART (CMOA) OWNS AND CARES FOR A COLLECTION OF MORE THAN 30,000 ARTWORKS, RANGING FROM CLASSIC TO CONTEMPORARY. THE 58TH EDITION OF THE CARNEGIE INTERNATIONAL WAS THE MOST GLOBAL ONE YET, WITH 140 ARTWORKS CREATED BY ARTISTS FROM 40 COUNTRIES. ENDING ON APRIL 2ND, IT WAS FOLLOWED BY CMOA'S "JOAN BROWN," "JAPANESE PRINTMAKERS, AND "UNSETTLING MATTER, GAINING GROUND" EXHIBITIONS. FOR SENIOR AUDIENCES, "MINDFUL MUSEUMS," A SUITE OF ACCESSIBLE PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES FOR VISITORS OVER 55, GAVE UNLIMITED ACCESS TO EARLY WEDNESDAY PROGRAMMING. ATTENDANCE FOR 2023 REACHED 239,536.CARNEGIE MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORYCARNEGIE MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY (CMNH) CONTINUES TO BE RANKED AS ONE OF THE TOP NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUMS IN THE COUNTRY. IT MAINTAINS, PRESERVES, AND INTERPRETS AN EXTRAORDINARY COLLECTION OF MORE THAN 22 MILLION OBJECTS AND SCIENTIFIC SPECIMENS USED TO BROADEN THE UNDERSTANDING OF EVOLUTION, CONSERVATION, AND BIODIVERSITY. "APSAALOOKE WOMEN AND WARRIORS, CREATED BY THE FIELD MUSEUM, WAS ON DISPLAY FOR FOUR MONTHS, FOLLOWED BY THE SMITHSONIAN'S "LIFE IN ONE CUBIC FOOT," WHICH INCLUDED A CUSTOM DISPLAY FOCUSED ON THE BIODIVERSITY OF OUR REGION. CMNH'S "MORNING MUSINGS" INVITED SENIORS TO AN OPEN HOUSE EXPERIENCE, FEATURING GALLERY SPOTLIGHTS AND ACTIVITIES JUST FOR THEM. EDUCATION:EACH OF THE FOUR MUSEUMS HAVE DEDICATED PROFESSIONALS FOCUSED ON PROVIDING EDUCATION TO THOSE VISITING THE RESPECTIVE MUSEUMS. SEE SCHEDULE O FOR HIGHLIGHTS OF EACH MUSEUM'S EDUCATION INITIATIVES.THE ANDY WARHOL MUSEUMAWM'S WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, CONTINUES TO EMPLOY YOUNG PEOPLE FROM THE NEARBY NORTH SIDE NEIGHBORHOODS, AND TRAIN THEM TO BE PART OF THE CREATIVE ECONOMY WORKFORCE, SERVING 150 ANNUAL PARTICIPANTS AND PROVIDING OVER 75 EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES. THE MUSEUM ALSO BEGAN OFFERING A NEW STATE-LICENSED DIGITAL MARKETING DIPLOMA PROGRAM AIMED AT GIVING DIVERSE STUDENTS OF ALL AGES AND EXPERIENCES PRACTICAL SKILLS FOR BECOMING DIGITAL MARKETERS.THE MUSEUM'S TEAM OF PROFESSIONAL ARTIST EDUCATORS WORK CLOSELY WITH TEACHERS AND GROUP LEADERS TO DEVELOP GALLERY, STUDIO, AND ONLINE LEARNING EXPERIENCES THAT ARE RELEVANT, ENGAGING, AND DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE. THEY WORK WITH EDUCATORS TO CRAFT ONE-HOUR GUIDED GALLERY TOURS, THREE-HOUR HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS, AND ONLINE DISTANCE LEARNING EXPERIENCES THAT CAN BE ADAPTED TO MEET EACH GROUP'S NEEDS.THE CARNEGIE SCIENCE CENTERCARNEGIE SCIENCE CENTER (CSC) INSPIRES CURIOSITY AND CONNECTS SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY TO EVERYDAY LIFE. RECOGNIZED AS A LEADER IN PROMOTING LITERACY IN STEM, CSC IS DEDICATED TO NURTURING THE NEXT GENERATION OF INNOVATORS AND LEADERS WHO WILL RISE TO MEET TOMORROW'S WORKFORCE NEEDS. AT CSC'S FAB 101 SENIOR WORKSHOPS, MEMBERS 65 AND OVER CAN LEARN THE BASICS OF 3D PRINTING, LASER CUTTING, AND VINYL CUTTING. CSC CONTINUES TO EARN ADDITIONAL REVENUE THROUGH THE PRODUCTION AND SALE OF MOBILE FABRICATION LABS DESIGNED TO EXTEND ITS INNOVATIVE STEM EDUCATION WORK TO OTHER INSTITUTIONS ACROSS THE NATION.CARNEGIE MUSEUM OF ARTONE OF THE MOST DYNAMIC MAJOR ART INSTITUTIONS IN THE COUNTRY, CMOA SERVES BOTH AS A STRATEGIC PARTNER IN REGIONAL EDUCATION INITIATIVES, AND A NATIONAL LEADER IN TRAINING EDUCATORS TO USE ART MUSEUM VISTS TO BUILD 21ST CENTURY LEARNING SKILLS. CMOA CREATED NEIGHBORHOOD MUSEUM IN FEBRUARY 2023 TO SUPPORT RECENTLY ARRIVED REFUGEE FAMILIES. THE PROGRAM IS ROOTED IN THE VALUES THAT LANGUAGE ACCESS IS A HUMAN RIGHT AND THAT AN ART MUSEUM IS A PLACE FOR COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS, EXPRESSION, AND KNOWLEDGE. CMOA'S YOUTH ART INITIATIVE PROVIDES HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS YEARLONG EXPERIENCES WORKING WITH MUSEUM STAFF AND ARTISTS TO DEVELOP PUBLIC PROGRAMS AND EVENTS FOR OTHER TEENS.CARNEGIE MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORYCMNH GENERATES NEW SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE, ADVANCES SCIENCE LITERACY, AND INSPIRES VISITORS OF ALL AGES TO BECOME PASSIONATE ABOUT SCIENCE, NATURE, AND WORLD CULTURES. IN THE SUMMER, CMNH LAUNCHED A REGION-WIDE EDUCATION AND OUTREACH CAMPAIGN TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT INVASIVE PLANT SPECIES.
